Andrew Baker
Andrew Baker is an Associate Professor at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. His research focuses on understanding the adaptive response of reef corals to climate change and ocean acidification, and combines expeditions to collect genetic samples from coral reefs around the world with controlled experiments on corals in Miami. A British citizen, Andrew is a former Fulbright Scholar, and has a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences (Zoology) from Cambridge University (1993), and a Ph.D. in Marine Biology from the University of Miami (1999). Andrew previously worked for the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), first at the New York Aquarium (1999-2000), and then for the Global Marine Program (2001-2005), where he was also a member of the adjunct faculty at Columbia University. He is a Fellow of the Explorer’s Club (FN 2003) and a Pew Fellow in Marine Conservation (2008).
