Dana Haim is a textile designer and artist originally from Miami, FL and artist currently based in Brooklyn, NYC. She received  a BFA in Textile Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2005 and later spent about four years living in Tel Aviv, Israel, where she was endlessly inspired by the sprawling, urban, beachside city. Her mixed ethnic ancestry has been a source of inspiration for her through out her work. Her love of traveling and understanding the world around her led her to a Masters Course in Design for Textile Futures at Central Saint Martins in London which she completed in 2010. She left CSM inspired by the idea of preserving craft in an increasingly technology driven world. In today’s digital age, with new technology replacing old technology, and playing a greater role in everything we do, she believes in the beauty and timelessness of making things with our hands.

She loves the beauty of a forgotten old wall layered by the patina of time, remnants of posters, flyers and staples, cracks running down it and rust dripping through the cement. Multi color neon graffiti dancing between the layers of paint, paper and dirt. Colorful dreamscapes. Wild animals and all the patterns and textures found in nature for instance the beauty of wood grain or the many facets of mineral stones. The life cycle of wild mushrooms. A wave. A stampede of horses. The line of a fine pen on a page. A mistake. A stitch. Her roots and all the places she has traveled to. Collecting trinkets, treasures and other magical objects. An old piece of mint green plastic swept in from the sea.
